How to Combine Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID Funds

Instructions on Linking a Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account and then combining the fund balance between a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) for the Nintendo eShop.

Important:

• Once the balances are combined, they can’t be separated. 

• If you unlink an NNID after combining funds, the funds will remain with the Nintendo Account. The money will not be accessible through the NNID if it is unlinked from the Nintendo Account. 

Additional Information:

• Merging the funds between a Nintendo Account and NNID will allow you to share your Nintendo eShop balance between your Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS family systems. 

• Once the funds are combined, the balance will be shared for as long as the NNID and Nintendo Account are linked together. Adding funds on one system will automatically make the money available to the others. 

• This is optional for on-device purchases. You can also keep your Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID balances separate if you’d prefer. 

• The NNID date of birth and country settings must match the date of birth. 

• If you cannot remember your NNID or password, use the Forgot your ID? or Forgot your password? links on the screen to request an email with the information. 

Using a Nintendo Switch Console

1. Select your user icon on the Nintendo Switch Home menu. 

2. Highlight Friend Suggestions, and then use the L/R Buttons to highlight the picture of the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS systems. Select Next.

   • The Nintendo Switch system will need to have a menu version of 3.0 or higher for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS images to appear. 

   • If the Next Button does not appear when you highlight one of the system pictures, you have already linked your NNID to the Nintendo Account. 

3. Enter your Nintendo Account password when prompted, then OK. Select Next. 

4. Enter your Nintendo Network ID and password, then Sign In to complete the link. 

Once the Link is complete, follow the below steps to Merge the funds:

1. Select Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu to launch the Nintendo eShop. 

2. Select the account you want to use. 

3. Select the picture of your icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information. 

4. Select Merge Funds from Nintendo 3DS/Wii U.

   • This option is listed directly beneath the Add Funds Button. 

   • If this option doesn’t appear, it means that the NNID currently linked to your Nintendo Account has already been merged to your account. 

5. Read through the information, then select Merge Funds.

   • If you see Next instead of Merge Funds, you don’t currently have an NNID linked to your Nintendo Account. You will need to link an NNID, then try again. 

6. Enter your Nintendo Account password, then select Send. 

7. The current balances from your Nintendo Account and NNID will appear. Select Merge Funds to combine them together. 

8. Your balances will be merged together. Select OK to return to the Add Funds menu. 

Using a PC or Smart Device

1. Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your Nintendo Account. 

2. Click User info, then scroll down to the Linked accounts section and click Edit.

   • If you are using a Nintendo Account for a child, this option will say Link a Nintendo Network ID. 

3. Click the box next to Nintendo Network ID. 

4. Follow the onscreen steps to add your NNID and password.

Once the Link is complete, follow the below steps to Merge the funds:

1. Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your Nintendo Account. 

2. Click Shop Menu and wait for the pop-up window to load. 

3. The current balances from your Nintendo Account and NNID will appear. 

4. Select Merge Funds and follow the on-screen steps to combine them together. 

5. Your balances will be merged together.
