How to Change Your Nintendo Account Password
If you have forgotten your password and need assistance signing in to your Nintendo Account, click here.
Complete These Steps:
Are you changing the password for a standard Nintendo Account or a Nintendo Account for a child?
Standard Nintendo Account
Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
Select Sign-in and security settings, and then select Edit in the Change Password section.
Enter your current password, then select OK.
Enter and confirm a new password.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
Passwords must include a combination of characters from 2 of the following categories: letters, numbers, and punctuation.
Click Submit to update the password.
Nintendo Account for a Child:
Do you want to use the parent / guardian’s account or the child’s account to change the password?
Using Parent / Guardian’s account:
Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
Select Family Group.
Click the child's account that you want to update, then click Sign-in and security settings.
Click Edit in the Change Password section.
If you are prompted to do so, re-enter the Parent or Guardian password and click OK.
Enter and confirm a new password.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
Passwords must include a combination of characters from 2 of the following categories: letters, numbers, and punctuation.
Click "Submit" to update the password.
Using Child’s account:
Go to the Nintendo Account website and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
Select Sign-in and security settings, and then select Edit in the Change Password section.
Enter your current password, then select OK.
Re-enter the current password if prompted, and click OK.
Enter and confirm a new password.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
Passwords must include a combination of characters from 2 of the following categories: letters, numbers, and punctuation.
Click Submit to update the password.
