How to Adjust or Terminate Automatic Renewal Settings

Nintendo Switch Online

You can cancel your Nintendo Switch Online membership by turning off the auto-renewal setting for your membership. This will discontinue the service at the end of your current term. (Make sure to turn off auto-renewal at least 48 hours before your membership is set to expire.)

You will continue to receive the service for the duration of time that you have already paid for, then your membership will end on the expiration date listed in your settings.

Please note the following when discontinuing your Nintendo Switch Online membership:

  • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the online multiplayer features for most Nintendo Switch titles.

  • If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won’t be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups. However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups.

  • Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online titles are only available to Nintendo Switch Online members.

  • If you have purchased a Family Membership, the other members of your family group will also no longer be able to use the service when your membership ends.

  • Auto-renewal settings can only be adjusted by the Nintendo Account holder that purchased the plan. Additional members on a Family membership cannot adjust the settings.

  • Please note if you join a family group, this does not cancel your Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership.

In-Game Subscriptions

  • Automatic renewal settings can only be managed through Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch if the in-game subscription was initially purchased through Nintendo eShop. If you purchased a subscription through a different service, your automatic renewal settings can only be adjusted through that service.

  • When you use a credit card to set up automatic renewal, we may receive updated information from your issuing bank or applicable payment service provider about the credit card. This means we may update the saved credit card's number and expiry date if it is replaced or has expired. This helps ensure that your subscriptions automatically renew, and your purchases complete successfully, even if your credit card information changes.

Subscriptions for smart phone applications

Please note we are not able to directly cancel the automatic renewal for subscriptions on smart phone applications.

This is because it is managed via the relevant third-party digital store on your smart device.  For example, the iTunes & App Store for Apple (iOS) products, and Google Play for Android Devices.

Therefore, please visit the support site for Apple (iOS) products or Google Play for Android Devices on details regards how to complete this.
