Forgot Nintendo Account Sign-in Info (Email Address, Password, Sign-in ID)

You have forgotten the sign-in information (email address, password or Sign-In ID) associated with your Nintendo Account.

Important:

• If you have registered a passkey with your Nintendo Account but are unable to sign in using it, please refer to Unable to sign in to Nintendo Account using a Passkey.

• If you have enabled 2-step verification for your Nintendo Account but cannot access the code required to sign in, please refer to Issues with Nintendo Account 2-step verification code.

• If you have changed your preferences to allow sign-in with your Sign-In ID only, you will not be able to use your email address to sign in. You will need to use your Sign-In ID to sign in to your Nintendo Account.

What to do

Nintendo Account for a Child

Your log in information can be verified and reset through your parent / guardian’s Nintendo Account.

• To verify your Sign-In ID, have your parent/guardian sign in to their account and select Family Group. All associated accounts for children will appear. Have them select your account, then select Sign-In and Security Settings, and your Sign-In ID will appear below the option to "Change Sign-In ID".

• If you have forgotten your password, have your parent/guardian reset your password through their account 

Nintendo Account

Make sure you are using the correct method to sign in.

• If you created your Nintendo Account by linking it to an existing account (such as Google or Apple), select the corresponding button on the sign-in page to sign in via your existing account.

What sign-in information did you forget?

Email Address

You can view part of the email address associated with your Nintendo Account in User Settings on your Nintendo Switch console, and, if you know your Nintendo Account password, can review the complete email address:

1. On the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu, select your user icon.

2. Select User Settings.

   • The first two characters of the email address associated with your Nintendo Account and the first letter of the domain name of the email address will appear after "Nintendo Account".

3. If you know your password, select Check Account Information and enter your password when prompted to view the full email associated with your Nintendo Account.

Sign-ID

If you have forgotten your Sign-In ID, try using your email address to sign in instead. Important: If you have changed your preferences to allow sign in with your Sign-In ID only you will not be able to use your email address to sign in, and may receive a message stating that "The email address/Sign-In ID or password is incorrect."

Password

If you do not remember the password associated with your Nintendo Account, and you created your account with:

• Social Media Services (Google or Apple ID): Visit the social networking site that you used to sign in to your Nintendo Account, and use their Help area for directions to update your password.

• No other services (Nintendo Account only): Click Forgot your password? on the sign-in page to reset your password.

Situation Not Resolved

If you do not remember or have access to the e-mail address associated to your Nintendo Account, we will need to update your e-mail address before you can use the Forgot Password feature. If you need to have the e-mail address updated, please contact us for support.
