2115-0096

When trying to use an amiibo figure on Nintendo Switch, error code 2115-0096 is displayed.

What to Do:

  1. Ensure your console has the latest system update

  2. Restart the console by holding down the POWER Button for three seconds, then select "Power Options" > "Restart."

  3. Ensure nothing is obstructing the NFC touchpoint over the control stick on the right Joy-Con.

    • If a cover is being used on the right Joy-Con, remove it temporarily.

  4. With the console undocked, attach the Joy-Con to the console

  5. Start the amiibo-compatible software and touch the amiibo to the NFC touchpoint.

  6. **Reset the amiibo data.

    Complete These Steps:**

    1. From the HOME Menu select “System Settings,” then scroll down the menu on the left-hand side and select “amiibo.”

    2. Select the data you would like to delete.

      • To delete game data only, select “Delete Game Data.”

      • To delete all data on the amiibo, select “Reset amiibo.”

    3. Hold an amiibo figure to the NFC touchpoint on the Right Joy-Con controller.

      • If the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is being used, the NFC touchpoint is located over the Nintendo Switch logo at the top-center of the controller.

    4. Review the data to be deleted, then select “OK.”

      • Important: If a cover is being used on the right Joy-Con, remove it temporarily.

    5. To continue, select “Reset,” then hold the amiibo steady on the NFC touchpoint until the data has been deleted.

Situation Not Resolved:

If the error persists, test another amiibo on the right Joy-Con, or test the original amiibo on a different right Joy-Con or on a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

  • If another amiibo works on the right Joy-Con, then the problem lies with the original amiibo and it will need to be replaced.

If the error persists when scanning the amiibo using the right Joy-Con, or if the amiibo can be scanned using a different Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, then the original right Joy-Con controller will need to be repaired.
