  • An error code is received when powering up the Nintendo Switch console, or when coming out of sleep mode. 

  • Error Codes: 2002-4301 to 2002-4463. 

Is a microSD card inserted in the console?

No

Restart the console by holding down the POWER Button for at least three seconds, then select "Power Options" > "Restart."

Situation Not Resolved:

If the error persists upon start up, even though a microSD card is not inserted then the Nintendo Switch console will need to be repaired.

  1. Power off the Nintendo Switch console, then remove the microSD card. 

  2. Power on the console again.

  1. Ensure your Nintendo Switch console has the latest system update

  2. Power off the console and reinsert the microSD card. 

  3. Format the microSD card

  4. Important:

    • Once formatted, the information on the microSD card cannot be recovered. If screenshots are stored on the microSD card, be sure to first back up the information on a computer. 

    • If downloadable software was saved to the microSD card, it can be redownloaded using the same Nintendo Account where it was purchased. 

  5. If after formatting the microSD card, the issue persists, then the microSD card will need to be replaced. 

Situation Not Resolved:

If the issue persists with multiple supported microSD cards, then the Nintendo Switch console will need to be repaired.

For testing purposes, be sure to include one or more of the problematic microSD cards that were being used with the console.
