An error code is received while playing a game on Nintendo Switch or when starting up the console.
What to Do:
Restart the console by holding down the POWER Button for three seconds, then select "Power Options" > "Restart."
If the console is not responding, hold down the POWER Button for at least twelve seconds to force the console to shut down, then power it back on.
Ensure your console has the latest system update.
If the issue persists, initialize the console without deleting save data.
Additional Information:
Save data, screenshots, and user information will not be deleted. However, all software saved on the microSD card (except for screenshots) will be unusable.
This method should only be used if you are planning to keep your system. If you will no longer have access to the system (for example, if you are selling it or giving it to someone), use the full initialization process to remove all of your save data and user information.
Important: The initialization is done in Maintenance Mode, which cannot be accessed if the console is powered on or in sleep mode.
Complete These Steps:
Ensure the console is powered off.
If the console does not respond, hold down the POWER Button for twelve seconds to force it to shut down.
With the console powered off, press and hold down the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons, then press the POWER Button to turn the system on.
Keep holding down the volume buttons until the menu for Maintenance Mode appears.
Once in Maintenance Mode, select “Initialize Console Without Deleting Save Data."
If a Parental Control PIN has been set for the system, you will be prompted to enter it to proceed.
Read through the information, then select “Next” > “Initialize Console Without Deleting Save Data.
Situation Not Resolved:
If the error persists, the Nintendo Switch console will need to be repaired.
