    • Can you purchase download games on the official Nintendo website?

      Yes, it is possible to purchase download versions of certain games on the official Nintendo website.

      You'll recognise if a game is available for purchase if a download/purchase button appears on related content.

      To be able to purchase download games on the official website, you'll need to have a Nintendo Account, and you'll need to have visited Nintendo eShop on the device you wish to download on at least once.

      Please make sure you have enough storage to complete the download.

    • Using a Nintendo Account to purchase download games on the official Nintendo website

      To be able to purchase download games on the official Nintendo website, you'll need to have a Nintendo Account, and you'll need to have visited the Nintendo eShop on the device you wish to download on at least once.

      You can log into your Nintendo Account at the top of each page on the official Nintendo website. You can create a Nintendo Account at accounts.nintendo.com. If you have questions about Nintendo Account, please contact Nintendo Customer Service.

    • My Nintendo benefits when purchasing download games on the official Nintendo website

      You will receive certain benefits in the My Nintendo programme when you purchase games on Nintendo eShop. When you purchase eligible digital games from Nintendo eShop via the official Nintendo website, those same benefits apply. On each game page that enables you to purchase that specific digital game via the official Nintendo website, you'll see exactly which benefits apply to that particular purchase.

    • Buying directly from Nintendo eShop on the official Nintendo website

      To be able to purchase download games on the official Nintendo website, you'll need to have a Nintendo Account, and you'll need to have visited Nintendo eShop on the device you wish to download on at least once.

      Prior to logging in with a Nintendo Account, the offers shown correspond to the country setting of the website. After logging in with a Nintendo Account, if the country setting of your Nintendo Account is different, the details of the offer may be adjusted (for example, the price will be displayed in the respective local currency).

      • Some games may not be available for purchase. In particular, only games for Nintendo Switch may be offered. Games for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Wii, Nintendo DS and other systems that were launched before 2011 will not be available.
         
      • Certain games may not be available for purchase yet. They may become available for purchase at a later date.
         
      • Certain games may be discontinued.
         
    • What consoles can I purchase download games for on the official Nintendo website?

      Only games for Nintendo Switch may be offered. Games for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Wii, Nintendo DS and other systems that were launched before 2011 will not be available.

    • Purchasing download games on the official Nintendo website

      In some circumstances you will be able to purchase a download game on the official Nintendo website before it is officially released, and it will be downloaded to your system ahead of the game's release date. The game will become playable on the release date. This is called a Pre-order on Nintendo Switch.

    • Storing download games purchased on the official Nintendo website on your device

      Download games purchased on the official Nintendo website can be directly downloaded on the device linked to the respective Nintendo Account. For that to happen, this device must:

      • Be updated to the latest system software.
         
      • Be connected to the Internet with automatic downloads enabled.
         
      • Have enough storage to complete the download.
         

      Each page will list the download size of the game you are about to purchase. Please make sure you have enough storage to complete the download.

    • Do download games have demos? And if so how do you download them via the official Nintendo website?

      Yes, it is possible to download demo versions of certain games on the official Nintendo website.

      You'll recognise if a game is available as a demo if a download button appears on related content. For certain demos you'll pass through a purchase process as if you're purchasing a free product. For other demos, clicking the button is all that's needed to begin downloading the demo on your system immediately.

      To be able to download a demo on the official website, you'll need to have a Nintendo Account, and you'll need to have visited Nintendo eShop on the device you wish to download on at least once.

      Please make sure you have enough storage to complete the download.

    • How to redownload previously purchased games

      If you previously purchased a digital game from Nintendo eShop (either through the official Nintendo website or directly on the device), but it is no longer stored on the device, you may be able to download it again. You can do this by directly accessing Nintendo eShop and accessing your purchase history. See detailed instructions for Nintendo Switch below.

      1. Within Nintendo eShop, go to the user menu.

      3. Select the orange "Redownload" button next to the title you wish to download again.

    • What payment options are available when purchasing download games on the official Nintendo website?

      When purchasing download games from Nintendo eShop through the official Nintendo website, you can use the same payment options available on the  Nintendo eShop found on Nintendo Switch:

      • You can purchase a download game via a "Credit Card”, “PayPal” or “Nintendo eShop Card”. Nintendo eShop Cards are available at many retailers across Australia and New Zealand.
         
      • If you already have existing funds or previously redeemed a Nintendo eShop card, you may purchase software using the funds available to you through your Nintendo Account.

    • Parental Controls options when purchasing download games on the official Nintendo website

      Purchases from Nintendo eShop through the official Nintendo website can be controlled in the following way:

      • This is handled on accounts.nintendo.com. After logging in to your Nintendo Account there, you can use the "Parental Controls" section to create, add and supervise Nintendo Accounts for children
