    • What is a Nintendo Network ID?

Registering a Nintendo Network ID on a Nintendo 3DS family system allows you to share your game experiences with the community on Miiverse, and more. A Nintendo Network ID is also required to download free software, game demos, and free videos from Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS.

    • Important information about Nintendo Network ID on Nintendo 3DS

One Nintendo Network ID can be registered to each Nintendo 3DS system. If you want to use your Nintendo Network ID on another Nintendo 3DS system, it's necessary to perform a system transfer.

If you have connected your Wii U to the internet, we strongly recommend you register the same Nintendo Network ID on Nintendo 3DS. Using the same Nintendo Network ID on both systems will combine their Nintendo eShop funds into a single combined balance.

After registering a Nintendo Network ID, you will be unable to change countries and use multiple currencies – for instance, pounds and euros – in Nintendo eShop. The funds in the currency that corresponds to the country setting of your Nintendo Network ID will remain, and any funds in other currencies will be deleted and no longer usable. Please make sure to use up funds in any other currencies before registering a Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo 3DS system.

For more information, please visit our Nintendo Network ID page.

    • About system transfers and Nintendo Network IDs

If you have registered a Nintendo Network ID on a Nintendo 3DS system (known as the "source" system), you can transfer this to a new system (known as the "target" system) along with the usage rights to data saved on your SD card, Nintendo DSiWare, your Nintendo eShop user history and balance, any save data from software pre-installed on the system, and Nintendo DS software settings.

It is not possible to perform the same function as a system transfer by registering the source system's Nintendo Network ID on the target system. To transfer data linked to a Nintendo Network ID, you must perform a system transfer.

For more information about performing system transfers between systems with registered Nintendo Network IDs, please contact Nintendo Customer Service.
