LIVE A LIVE features multiple characters to play as, with each chapter set in its own time period offering unique gameplay mechanics and locations. Who knows what awaits when all eight tales have been told?
Every time period features its own story and characters, with bespoke gameplay mechanics that make each one a unique experience.
Prehistory – The First
In a forgotten era, a young man comes of age and is given permission by the tribal elder to go forth and hunt. Bereft of words, he relies on his senses to survive; guided by his nose, he tracks game, finds shelter and learns of the dangers of the world.
Use your sense of smell to track wild beasts and craft weapons and armour with items you find.
Imperial China – The Successor
An old Chinese master nearing the end of his life yearns to preserve his kung fu for future generations. With this purpose, he ventures forth from his home atop Mount Aspiration, in search of a worthy successor to his legacy.
Focus your training efforts on any of your three disciples to choose them as the heir to your legacy.
Twilight of Edo Japan – The Infiltrator
In the shadows cast by the fires of chaos, a shinobi is given a mission of paramount importance: explore a trap-filled castle to free a lone prisoner. Will the shinobi carry out his task with a merciful heart, or put every enemy to the sword?
Take down the enemies in your way, or stick to the shadows and pursue your goals through stealth.
The Wild West – The Wanderer
A tired soul rides into a dying town beset by outlaws – Success, they call it, though none can imagine why. Against a gang of villains, a lone gunslinger stands no chance, but by working together with the locals, one man may yet make a difference…

Present Day – The Strongest

Tales as old as time
Tailor your adventure in LIVE A LIVE by deciding which order to tackle the game’s stories in. Play through each to completion one after the other, or mix things up further by jumping between them. The choice is yours!
Enjoy the freedom to explore within each time period, as well as turn-based combat that varies from chapter to chapter. Each hero has their own range of attacks to master – use them wisely against enemies while moving on the battlefield to avoid danger and strike when the time is right.

Originally only released in Japan for the Super Famicom, LIVE A LIVE on Nintendo Switch brings the game to the west for the first time, resurrected with the same stunning HD-2D graphics used in TRIANGLE STRATEGY and OCTOPATH TRAVELER.
Produced by Takashi Tokita (Chrono Trigger, FINAL FANTASY IV), and featuring music remastered under the supervision of Yoko Shimomura (FINAL FANTASY XV, the Kingdom Hearts series), the game is playable in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian with English and Japanese voice acting throughout.
