Legal and Product Compliance Coordinator

Job Description

Recognised in our sector by an extensive, reputable history and broad product range, Nintendo Australia now requires a Legal and Product Compliance Coordinator to join their team on a part time basis (22.5 hours per week).

Reporting to the Assistant Manager Legal and Product Compliance, this role is responsible for

performing a variety of regulatory compliance work, legal tasks and research, supporting the essential processes that ensure Nintendo Australia Pty Limited (“NAL”) complies with Australian and New Zealand legal, safety, regulatory and ethical requirements.

The Legal and Product Compliance Coordinator position supports the regulatory compliance and product legal clearance needs of the company while also performing research and a range of other tasks to support legal requirements and manage risk.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Researching, understanding and applying legal concepts, and succinctly communicating legal requirements to local and overseas colleagues.

  • Actioning regulatory compliance requests from Nintendo Co., Ltd in Japan (“NCL”) –obtaining information, completing assigned tasks, and sharing advice.

  • Preparation of regulatory compliance and safety documentation, contracts, templates, terms and conditions for competitions and other promotions, and other legal documentation as required.

  • Liaising across Nintendo as required to assist on global matters, as well as with other NAL departments to obtain instructions and information.

  • Work with overseas teams and legal counsel on responses to instances of unauthorised use of Nintendo IP.

  • Review of marketing materials to help ensure ongoing compliance with the Australian Consumer Law.

  • Monitor for changes in relevant laws, regulations and court cases.

  • Support Nintendo’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

  • Processing of payments to external legal advisors.

  • Support In-house Legal Counsel and Assistant Manager Legal and Product Compliance with various tasks as required.

To succeed in the role, you will require:

  • Minimum 12 months prior experience in a compliance or legal role, or similar experience with external and/or internal regulation.

  • Excellent communication skills with acute attention to detail.

  • A law degree (completed or in progress) would be highly regarded, as would any relevant associate degree or other relevant tertiary education.

  • High level attention to detail and work ethic.

  • Consistent adherence to confidentiality requirements.

  • Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N2 or above) would be advantageous but is not essential for this role.
