Pokémon fans share universal joy at record-breaking Nov 18 launch in Melbourne!

A huge thanks from all of us at Nintendo AUNZ to every Pokémon fan who attended the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Midnight Launch in Melbourne CBD, as well as various other launch events around Australia and New Zealand.

Well and truly a record-breaking launch, it was inspiring to see Pokémon fans of all ages pack out Federation Square throughout the evening of 17th November and the early hours of 18th November.

Hosted by EB Games, the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Midnight Launch event was filled with entertaining activities such as Pokémon trivia, creative Pokémon cosplay, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournaments and festive fireworks right on midnight!

During the week of launch, we experienced both the warmest day in eight months AND the supermoon in our skies, which just might have been the universe’s way of celebrating the release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for Nintendo 3DS…

At EB Games on Swanston Street in Melbourne CBD, fans lined up right around the block, keen to explore the new Alola region as soon as possible!

Right around Australia and New Zealand, retailers held their own midnight launches, with eager fans getting in early to be some of the first in the world to get their hands on Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

Pokémon fans, it has been wonderful to experience the buzz of exhilaration behind Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for Nintendo 3DS – and we hope you’re enjoying yourselves as you embark on a new journey to CATCH ‘EM ALL!

We’re looking forward to hearing your reactions to the Alola region and its Pokémon!
