Connecting your Wii Online
Nintendo offers an exciting online service for all Wii users. To be able to connect your Wii online, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must have an existing broadband internet connection, such as Cable or DSL. If you are not sure if your internet connection is broadband or not, please consult your Internet Service Provider.
- A compatible Internet Service Provider (ISP). While most services are compatible with the Wii, some ISPs do not allow additional devices to be connected to a network. Consult your ISP for more information.
- The Wii must be able to access your broadband connection. This can be accomplished in one of three ways:
- A wireless router (recommended): Wii is compatible with most wireless routers and their security features. If you have a wireless router and need assistance setting up your Wii, we can walk you through the process by clicking here.
- Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector: * Even if you don't have a wireless network for all your home devices, you can still set up a wireless connection for your Wii. If you have a PC running Windows XP directly connected to your broadband Internet access, you can plug the separately sold Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector into an open USB port on the PC. Once you install the software that's included with the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, wirelessly connecting your Wii is easy. If you already have the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector and need help setting it up, click here.
- A wired access point using the Wii LAN Adapter: If you have a wired access point, such as wired router or broadband modem, the Wii LAN Adapter can be used to enable an ethernet connection from your wired access point to the USB ports on the Wii console. The Wii LAN Adapter (sold separately) may be ordered from Nintendo Australia by calling Nintendo Customer Service on (03) 9730 9822 between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday (EST). For more information on this connection type, click here.
* Please note that at this time, the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector software is not compatible with Windows Vista (all versions). Please check back for future updates, as our engineers are currently working on a potential solution.
