Mario Tennis for Game Boy Color gives players the chance to start their very own Tennis career. Start as a beginner and train to enhance skills and challenge expert players. Delve into the in-depth adventure mode or go straight to the courts and challenge Mario, Donkey Kong, Wario and other Nintendo tennis champions. Play to win or alternately enjoy the 9 entertaining mini-games that serve up challenges and excitement galore.

In the adventure mode, players must help their character earn experience points by winning singles or doubles matches and completing challenging drills and mini games. The player walks around speaking to characters for professional tennis tips to access different areas. The tennis matches feature gameplay very similar to the popular Nintendo 64 version, with realistic tennis shots including topspin and backspin, smash shots, lobs and volleys. There are also different playing surfaces such as grass, clay and hardcourt.

Mario Tennis for Game Boy Color is compatible with Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. Using the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak, players can unlock extra courts and mini-games and even transfer their trained characters to the Nintendo 64 to earn more experience points and play in full 3D.

  • Compete in the Singles and Doubles tournaments with either male or female characters.

  • Players will need to develop their characters’ skills and also their own to progress through Junior, Senior and Varsity levels of competition and ultimately take on the Island Cup to compete against Mario for the final challenge.

  • Complete the Adventure mode, play for hours in the exhibition mode, or enjoy the endless challenge of 9 different mini-games.

  • Challenge family and friends in Multiplayer mode.

  • 1-2 players can challenge each other in either singles or doubles mode.

  • Multiplayer requires two Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance units, two Mario Tennis Game Paks and a Universal Link Cable.

  • Challenge each other by earning the highest score in the 9 unlockable mini-games.
