Sonic
and friends blast onto the Nintendo GameCube in a desperate battle
to save the world from the evil Dr. Eggman and his villainous
friends. A mysterious “dark” Hedgehog is causing serious
trouble and the military is blaming Sonic for his impersonator’s
nasty deeds.
The good news is that Sonic is too fast for
the military to catch and has enlisted the help of his best friends
Tails, Knuckles and Amy. Sonic and friends, or Dr. Eggman and
his fiendish pals must race, blast and explore their way through
a vast number of breathtaking lands. In a unique twist to the
story, players also have the choice to play on the side of evil,
to help Dr. Eggman and his sinister friends take over the planet.
- Brilliant looking 3D worlds. The many varying environments
look very impressive, with bright use of colours and highly
detailed textures to give the game a very vibrant look.
- Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and their adversaries look fantastic
in 3-D.
 
- The game offers a great variety of challenges and styles
of play.
- There are also three totally different styles of gameplay
on offer with the use of different characters. Sonic and Shadow
blast through levels at incredible speeds, with amazing loops
and jumps to shock the senses. Tails and Dr Eggman crash their
way around in a massive robot that locks in to destroy anything
in range. Knuckles and Rogue climb, dig, glide and swim as
they search for hidden items and treasure.
- The treasure hunting levels can grow frustrating but the
game gives enough clues to ensure players can find all they
need in time.
- Beginners will be pleased to see that the game doesn’t
take long to get going and rarely becomes too difficult. Expert
players may complete the game reasonably quickly but there
are 5 missions for every level to complete, including collecting
100 rings, finding the hidden Chao, beating the time limit
and completing the hard mode.
- At times the gameplay is almost like a roller coaster. Point
in the right direction and go for the ride of a lifetime.
This simple control is a little fast and jerky at times but
is refreshingly easy and fun to play.
- Sonic’s adventure is filled with loads
of speech to entertain players. The voice acting is a little
wacky but a lot of fun.
- Great background music accompanying the levels
certainly does its best to create an impressive atmosphere.
- Sound effects have remained true to previous
Sonic games, such as the sounds heard when collecting rings,
or being hit by an enemy.
