Super Mario returns in the follow up to his amazing worldwide success in Super Mario 64. Super Mario Sunshine sees Mario power up with all new abilities in an adventure that is so huge that it is only possible on Nintendo GameCube.

After defeating Bowser and rescuing Princess Peach in his last adventure, Mario sets off to a tropical island called Isle Delfino for a well-deserved vacation. Finally he can kick back, relax and forget about Bowser’s dastardly deeds. Before he even sets foot on the beach, Mario is called into action. Isle Delfino is being defaced by a mysterious imposter that is leaving a trail of paint and graffiti everywhere. In a case of mistaken identity, the local inhabitants blame Mario for the crime and sentence him to clean up the entire island before he can relax. If that isn’t enough, Mario’s look-alike has scared away the island’s Shine Sprites, which are the source of light on this tropical retreat. Mario must clean up the mess, find the imposter and bring sunshine back to Isle Delfino.

Mario needs all the help he can get, so it is a good thing that Gadd Science Industries have supplied him with a special water pack called FLUDD (Flash Liquidiser Ultra Dousing Device). With the FLUDD strapped to his back, Mario can clean up the mess, shoot enemies from a distance, hover in the air and blast off like a rocket.

  • Super Mario Sunshine impresses immediately with an eye-catching vibrancy which is truly rare in any game.
  • The tropical island setting comes to life with cool clear waters, pristine beaches, bright green palm trees, lively natives, bright rays of sunlight, heat distortion and local wildlife such as birds and fish.
  • Mario hits the GameCube in outstanding fashion, with brightly coloured attire, lively animations and cartoon like effects, such as dust clouds, motion blur and even… sweat. These help to add a subtle cartoon-style to the game.
  • Water effects play a major role in the game and look amazing, with realistic ripples, waves, splashes, distortions and reflections.
  • The effects of paint spilling on the ground, splashing around, reflecting light, washing away in water and clinging to Mario’s clothes and face are most impressive.
  • The draw distance in Super Mario Sunshine is absolutely incredible. When standing up high players can see the entire island. The distant view is further enhanced with an impressive “heat haze” effect.

  • Fun, enjoyable and challenging gameplay is where Super Mario Sunshine truly excels.
  • Mario has been ordered to clean up the mess of paint and graffiti all over Isle Delfino using his new water-pack. This task won’t be easy though, as the paint has a life of its own, spurting out enemies, changing the landscape and clinging to Mario, making him slip and slide out of control.
  • Cleaning up the mess is not his only mission however. Mario can also run, swim, bounce, back-flip, triple-jump, wall-kick, squirt, hover, dive and slide his way around different areas of the island to find the many missing Shine Sprites.
  • Super Mario Sunshine takes all of the innovative, groundbreaking and highly enjoyable control elements of Super Mario 64 and makes them even better.
  • Mario’s new Water Pack (FLUDD) adds a whole new dimension to his usual style of adventure. Mario can use the pack to squirt enemies from a distance, clean away the pools of sludge and paint, hover in the air, jet through the water and blast off like a rocket.
  • The new and improved camera system follows Mario’s every movement perfectly.
  • Yoshi is back to help his pal Mario - who happily jumps aboard!
  • Mario’s latest adventure sees him battling all new enemies, old favourites and massive bosses that are out to stop him at all costs.
  • Simple, intuitive and realistic controls will entertain and challenge all different skill levels and ages.

  • Mario’s island adventure features classic Mario theme music, mixed with a tropical vacation flavour.
  • The music in Super Mario Sunshine blends into the background perfectly and does not overpower the experience.
  • The sound effects are great, with crisp sounding water, energetic whoops of joy from Mario, relaxing background ambience and great voice acting. Super Mario Sunshine supports Dolby Surround Pro Logic II.
