Eternal Darkness is a psychological thriller with an engrossing
storyline that spans across 2000 years of human history and promises
to take players to the brink of insanity and beyond.
The darkness begins as Alexandra Roivas finds that her Grandfather
has been brutally murdered inside his mansion. Alex learns that
the local Police are unable or unwilling to help. With no one
left to turn to, Alex explores her Grandfathers Mansion for clues.
She stumbles across the Tome of Eternal Darkness, a mystical book
that tells the tale of a dark force that wreaks a terrible evil
on all of humanity. Alex learns to see past the veil of our reality,
to see those that dwell in the darkness. Either by fate or misfortune
the entire Roivas family’s bloodline has been drawn into
an epic battle waged across two millennia, against an evil older
than time itself, which threatens our very existence. With humanities
hopes hanging on a thread, Alex must forge on and fight the darkness,
but in order to find the terrifying truth there is a great burden
she must bear…
With
superb graphics, movie quality voice acting and an incredible
storyline, Eternal Darkness thrusts players into an adventure
that crosses time, reality and the realms of insanity. Controlling
12 different characters throughout history, players will battle
hordes of Zombies, cast powerful spells, fight to keep their sanity
and maybe even make the ultimate sacrifice. The Darkness comes…

- Graphically Eternal Darkness looks amazing, with realistic
lighting effects, detailed textures, ominous shadows and volumetric
fogging.
- Great attention to detail has been taken to make the different
locations around the world look authentic and historically
correct. Players will feel like they are exploring hidden
tombs in ancient Persia, majestic chapels in France, a dingy
Mansion on Rhode Island, or an incredible underground city
of evil.
- The 12 different characters look surprisingly real, with
life-like animations, changing emotions, varying characteristics,
and a great sense of personality.
- Impressive cut scenes tell the story with a disturbing
realism that will shock and amaze players.
- Incredible real-time lighting effects create a dynamic
atmosphere, where shadows play on emotions as they bend around
walls and creep up from behind. Light flickers and reacts
to the players movements in its unending battle to fight the
darkness.
- The graphics create the perfect atmosphere of darkness,
history, danger and dread that will draw the player into the
storyline.
- Intuitive movie-style camera angles that pan and swoop with
the player, never leaving them stranded behind a wall or object.

- Eternal Darkness brings a whole new style of game to the
GameCube. Not your typical horror game, Eternal Darkness is
more insidious than that, creating a captivating and at times
terrifying psychological thriller.
- The adventure involves controlling 12 different characters,
which by either fates of hand or misfortune cross paths with
the most terrible evil, bringing on horrific circumstances,
great pains, and at times certifiable madness.
- The world of darkness is packed with action. Players will
hack, slash, and blast through hordes of demons, zombies,
horrors and other mind-altering abominations.
- Eternal Darkness uses an innovative attack system where
players can highlight which part of the body they wish to
attack. This allows players to lop off heads, amputate arms,
and take on hordes of advancing foes with mastery and precision.
- Enemies drain a players sanity to the point of madness.
Sanity can only be recovered by performing devastating finishing
moves.
- The countless insanity effects play a major role in enhancing
the absorbing psychological thriller element. Players will
question reality as their head falls off, blood drips from
the walls, bugs crawls across the screen, cries of pain resonate
from the distance, and enemies grow to twice their regular
size.

- In-depth spell system gives players true power as they learn
and create new and powerful spells. This unique “Magick”
system allows players to cast spells of different alignments
and power to combat the forces of darkness. The use and creation
of different spells adds a certain element of strategy and
puzzle solving to the adventure.
- Each of the 12 different characters feels and controls very
differently, suiting their own individual style. Some characters
are fit and healthy, being able to run long distances without
getting tired. Others will tire quickly, walking around gasping
for air. Some will have strong minds, being able to fight
off insanity, while others will fall into the depths of madness
with little resistance.
- Eternal Darkness has an innovative style of control that
gives the player great power, whilst being easy to master.
The depth and ease of control allows all skill levels to delve
into the darkness with great confidence.
- This involving and thrilling adventure will engross players
in a world of darkness, madness, and undying evil.
- There is great variety in the weapons on offer, each unique
to their own time-period. Players will wield weapons such
as a sword, crossbow, mace, shotgun, an elephant rifle, and
many more.

- Eternal Darkness is a veritable audio feast, with powerful
voice acting, atmospheric music, and frightening sound effects.
- Great care has been taken to make the sound an integral
part of the gaming experience, with music and sounds based
on the different historical eras.
- The voice acting is superb, adding a deep sense of emotion
and power to the game. Video games rarely have good voice
acting, whereas this game sounds better than many movies.
- The developers, Silicon Knights, have researched and included
ancient languages, such as Latin, giving the game a very unique
sound that adds a very dark edge to the audio experience.
- The player can be deeply effected at times by the unrelenting
audio experience, from screams of pain and fear, to cries
of insanity, and spine tingling whispers, all enhanced by
constant deep rumbles and mind altering musical undertones.
- The spells cast in the game can have an unnatural “demonic”
sound to them, enhancing the experience greatly.
- Eternal Darkness supports Dolby Surround Pro Logic II
